New Life is a lively praise service that takes place on the 1st Sunday of most months in Limekilns Parish Church near Dunfermline in Fife. The service is lead by a praise band made up of Limekilns & Cairneyhill Church members and others with gifts we lack. Every service has a theme and a guest speaker.

The next New Life service is on Sunday 1st February and coincides with a week of events related to homelessness. With that in mind, we have asked Bill McNicol to speak this time. Bill, along with others, is involved with the toastie club in Dunfermline which is a charity helping the homeless locally.

After the service there is a chance to chat, enjoy a cup of tea and something to eat together and get to know each other.

So if you're in the Dunfermline area (or don't live too far away) why not come along and hear Bill and enjoy the Praise and Worship with us.

Look forward to seeing you there.

God Bless

A brief review of the February New Life Service
The theme of this service was despair to hope and coincided with homelessness week. The speaker for this New Life Service was Bill McNicol; Bill, along with other staff and several volunteers, runs the Toastie Club which does great work for and with the homeless in and around Dunfermline. Bill gave us a small insight into the work done for the homeless and also told us about the responses there have been. Over the last few months five people have given their life to the Lord as a result of the work done by the Toastie Club. The work done by the Toastie Club needs your support though. You can pray for the work done there, and you can also help in other ways by donating material things; everyday items like toiletries can make a huge difference. You can also give financial assistance if you like. You can give money directly to the Toastie Club or, if you don't know how to get it to them directly, drop anything you like off at Limekilns Parish Church and tell them it is for the Toastie Club; go on, make a difference in someone's life! This was one of the best New Life Services yet and there were nearly 60 people there!

We hope to see many of you at the next New Life Service on March 1st 2009 which although the speaker has yet to be confirmed will be an excelent evening of Praise and Worship. More information will appear as soon as I have it

First, sorry for the short notice, but I've not been around for a few weeks.

The next New Life Service will be on April 5th 2009, at Limekilns Church. (Tonight)

The title of this one is going to be "A Voyage of Hope".

The speaker at this service will be Gareth Kirk. Gareth is Second Mate and Safety Officer aboard the MV Logos Hope which will be docked at Leith from 31st March.

If you want to find out more about the MV Logos Hope and what it does, go to their web site at http://www.logoshope.org/ .

A brief review of the March New Life Service

The theme of this service was Choose Life and the speaker was Judith Fleming

Judith is heavily involved with an charity called Choices which is part of Care Confidential. Care Confidential deals with very sensitive topics related to pregnancy and its associated choices.

Judith gave us plenty to think about and sighted the example of Jesus and the woman caught in adultery; He didn't condemn or judge her. Many women have to make very difficult choices when faced with an unwanted pregancy and those involved with Choices don't judge them either.

This was one of the best New Life Services yet and was another very challenging evening.

A brief review of the April New Life Service

The theme of this service was A Voyage of Hope and the speaker was Gareth Kirk. Gareth is Second Mate and Safety Officer on board the Logos Hope.

Gareth gave us a talk about the work done by the Logos Hope and other ships in the fleet. He told us of many examples where people had benefited from and come to Christ through contact with the ship.

Gareth showed us a powerful, PowerPoint presentation from Logos Hope which demonstrated the need for the work done to continue.

He also showed us pictures of the the renovation of the ship, which used to be a car ferry.

Hi,

The next New Life Service will be on May 3rd 2009, at Limekilns Church.

The speaker will be John Meiklejohn. John is a friend of Marcia and Barry from Braco, he attends Cornton Baptist Church and the title for his talk is "Mayday".

If you have never been to a New Life Service yet, we would encourage you to come to this one; it promises to be one of the best New Life Services yet.

A brief review of the May New Life Service

The theme of this service was MAYDAY and the speaker was John Meiklejohn. John is friend of Barry and Marcia from Cornton Baptist Church.

John gave us a brief insight into the happenings of 1951 when many ships were in trouble in the channel because of the worst storms for years.

Many of the ships sent out a MAYDAY signal, and dozens of other ships responded to these signals.

John told us about people who have given out distress signals and those have been answered by Jesus through other people.

It is our responsibility as Christians to respond to those distress signals in the same way Jesus has responded to our many cries for help. We must demonstrate to those in trouble how the love of Christ can make a difference in their life by our actions.

The next New Life Service will be on June 7th 2009, at Limekilns Church.

The speaker will be George Alexander.

The New Life Service has been going now for two and a half years and we have a different speaker almost every time. This one is an exception!

George spoke to us a while ago on Forgiveness - you can hear that talk again on the Sermons Page - and that was one of the best New Life Services we have had.

If you have never been to a New Life Service yet, we would encourage you to come to this one.

This will be another fantastic evening of praise and worship at Limekilns Church!

A brief review of the June New Life Service

The speaker at the june New Life Service was George Alexander.

George spoke to us on the subject From Glory into Glory.

He said in order to change from Glory into Glory, we need to change from the inside and not just superficially.

We can all decide to change things about ourselves which are not pleasing to God, but in order to change fully, we need to be changed by the presence of Jesus Christ in our lives.

He continued by saying that although we may think of our selves as failures, we cannot be failures if we have accepted Jesus as our saviour.

The last time george spoke to us at New Life, it was one of the best evenings we've had, this evening was equally as good and I have little doubt that we will be asking George top speak to us again at some point in the future.

The New Life Service takes a break over the summer months so the next one will not be until September 6th. Put the date in your diary now!
Stewart Paton
New Life is back after its summer break and we're all refreshed and ready to go.

The next New Life Service will be on September 6th at 7pm.

This one is going to be an evening of Praise and Worship so if you have a favourite song you would like done, tell Barry or Marcia as soon as possible.

We have already had a few suggestions and, while we cannot do them all, will try to fit in as many as possible.

What is the New Life Service?

The New Life Service offers a different style of worship to the usual Sunday morning, with a band providing the lead.

Since that first New Life Service in December 2006, things have grown steadily and we try to keep things fresh by having different speakers each time who speak on a variety of subjects, mostly related to their own life or experience. There have been many examples of how being a Christian can make a difference in your life and the lives of others.

Although many of the songs we do are newer, we don't completely abandon the old songs. We feel there are still a lot of good songs which should not be discarded just because they were not written in the late twentieth century. We constantly provide a good mix of songs but try to do them in a style which suits the feel of the New Life Service.

The Limekilns Church New Life Service takes place, usually, on the first Sunday of the month. If you haven't been to one yet, we would encourage you to come along.

A brief review of the September New Life Service

The September New Life Service was a praise evening.

We had a good number of people again which is always encouraging. We tried to fit in as many requeted songs as we could, although some requests came after we had had the practice so were too late.

Liz Mcbean gave her testimony and told us how she had changed, in a big way, since she gave her life to Christ. This was a very encouraging talk and was obviously from the heart.

Catherine Bartholomew also spoke to us about her recent illness and thanked everyone for their prayers. This was a moving moment from a young woman whose faith shines like a beacon for others to see.

October New Life Service

The October New Life Service will be on Sunday, October 4th. I think this one may be something to do with The Psalms.

More details will follow when I get them.
Stewart Paton
brief review of the October New Life Service

The October New Life Service was on the subject: Science versus Religion and Evolution versus Creation.

Norman Grant gave a fantastic talk on this subject. He told us it was possible for Religion and Creation to co-exist in a world which has Science and Evolution and that they need not be mutually exclusive.

But rather than me waffling on here, you can make up your own mind by listening to Norman's talk which is available on the Limekilns Church web site at http://www.limekilnschurch.org/sermons/newlife/creation.mp3

November New Life Service

The November New Life Service will be on Sunday, November 1st @7pm. The theme this time will be The Psalms.
Stewart Paton
brief review of the November New Life Service

The November New Life Service was on the subject: The Psalms.

Sandy Muirhead talked to us on the Psalms and broke them down into the catagories of the comfortable and the uncomfortable Psalms.

Sandy gave us a explaination about the Psalms and explained about the way they are grouped in the Bible (I didn't know they were in a particular order for any reason - The Webmaster). Anyway, this was another great evening and we sang some of the Psalms but tried to do different versions of them for a bit of variety.

December New Life Service

The December New Life Service will be on Sunday, December 6th at 7pm. The theme will be announced here as soon as I find out what it is!

First of all, appologies for missing last month.

The next New Life Service is on Sunday, March 7th.

The speaker is going to be a Iain Mathie. Iain is a local GP and is involved with the youth ministry at Liberty Church. Iain is going to talk on the theme, "Fix your eyes upon Jesus".

Iain also used to be involved with the On Fire Services and he has also been to Imkerhof.

This should be a really good New Life Service.

April New Life Service

The next New Life Service is on Sunday, April 11th and is going to be a Praise Evening.

March New Life Service

The March new Life service was another excellent evening and put the New Life Services firmly back on track. Dr. Iain Mathie talked to us about fixing our eyes on Jesus.

Iain's talk was very engaging and used real life situations to get across to us how important it is to fix our eyes on Jesus, not only when things are not going well, but when things are going well also. He pointed out how important it is to continually fix our eyes on Jesus, through reading the Bible and prayer, so that we are in the habit of doing it so that when things are maybe a little tougher than usual, we will be in the habit of talking to Jesus.

This was the kind of New Life Services we have come to expect at Limekilns Parish Church; thanks go to Iain and all concerned for making it a great evening.

May New Life is this Sunday 2nd May

I've not got much info yet about the speaker, but as usual it is set to be a great evening. The band were practicing last night and there are some great worship songs planned. Although I'm not sure of the subject the speaker plays the Saxophone and will be joining the band for the evening.

When I find out more I'll let you all know.
