The yp are aged 9 – 16, referred by social workers because of their vulnerability and disadvantaged home situations, enjoy a 5 day (school holiday) or weekend break accompanied (at a ratio of 2 : 1) by volunteers whom we recruit from churches, interview , police check and train. In a programme of outdoor activities, the yp learn new skills, gain confidence in existing skills, make new friends and develop self esteem and social skills -all within a Christian perspective – and all in a great adventure together. Our motto is ‘we hold the ropes while they learn to succeed.’

St. Andrew’s Blantyre Pastoral & Bereavement Care/ GriefShare www.standrewsblantyre.com www.griefshare.org

Over the past 18 years we have developed a strong pastoral and bereavement care strategy for our parish. These include developing a team for pastoral visits, post-funeral visits and also the development of Bereavement Support Groups using GriefShare materials.
When people are at their most vulnerable, following illness or the loss of a loved one, we have found a low-key yet supportive ministry helps develop lasting relationships between church members and parishioners. It provides a means to assist others and in practical ways to show the love of God for them.

Scottish Bible Society www.scottishbiblesociety.org

The Scottish Bible Society desires to be known in Scotland as a contemporary and relevant Christian resource agency with a unique mission. As part of the worldwide fellowship, United Bible Societies, we seek to make
God’s Word available to the people of the world in a language they can understand, at a price they can afford and in a format they can use. In Scotland today however, the challenge is much less about distribution and all about developing Bible use and engagement in ways that are culturally relevant. Our role as a trusted catalyst for local church partnership is widely recognised.

World Mission Council www.world-mission.org
The World Mission Council is the channel through which the Church of Scotland responds to the command of Jesus: "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation" (Mark 16:15). The council works in more than 30 different countries worldwide, usually on the basis of partnership with local churches and institutions and always with a view to involving church members in Scotland in the development of the work. The cultivation of local-to-local links is not only a matter of creating friendships and expanding the horizons of those involved, valuable though that is. It is a way of giving effect to the great themes which mark the Church’s engagement with the world at this time: evangelism, reconciliation and combating poverty.

Youth for Christ www.yfc.co.uk
ICC is the largest independent Bible and theological college in Scotland and the north of England. It seeks to foster excellence in Christian thought and practice from within the Evangelical tradition. We are committed to training Christian workers and providing resources which will serve the church as she seeks to join in God’s mission: in cross- cultural situations of competing religions and ideologies, in urban settings of poverty and hopelessness, among young people disillusioned with institutional religion and sometimes with life in general, with children at risk and in need across the world, in the market place, where most Christians spend most of their time.
