Christian Aid Scotland www.christianaidscotland.org

Today 1.3 billion people live in extreme poverty. Tonight 800 million people will go to bed hungry. This year 12 million children will die before their fifth birthday. We reject a world where such suffering exists amid such plenty.
It needn’t be like that. We can hope for a better world, where everyone lives a full life, free from poverty. And we have the power to turn that hope into action Christian Aid is an agency of the churches in the UK and Ireland. We work wherever the need is greatest – irrespective of religion or race.
We encourage our owning churches to give, act and pray We strive for a new world transformed by an end to poverty and we campaign to change the rules that keep people poor.
Christian Aid is the official agency of the Churches in Scotland. Our work in Scotland is carried out by 15 staff and 560 Committees and many thousands of volunteers throughout Scotland each year, who raise over £1.25 million during Christian Aid Week towards the fight against poverty.
